Acne is a common skin condition that results in the appearance of unsightly spots and unbalanced skin. This condition can cause redness, inflammation and even make the skin hot to the touch. Acne most commonly occurs on the face, however many acne sufferers experience it on the back or chest area. Acne can be triggered when certain hormones cause the sebaceous glands in your skin to produce too much oil. This excess oil causes a normally harmless bacteria to flare up, resulting in skin inflammation and spots. During an acne outbreak, the lining of the hair follicle can become thicker, causing blocked pores.
